Why Intercessors Must Pray for the Lost:
God's Mercy, Judgment and Legal Pardon

When you are urged to pray for the lost, remember this "why?" revelation: the Bible clearly teaches that those without Christ are already condemned, not later, but now. They are spiritually on God’s 'death row' awaiting the execution of their sentence unless a divine pardon is issued through Jesus. John 3:18 – "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already..."

While God is the righteous Judge, He is also rich in mercy. He does not take pleasure in the death of the wicked and desires that all would repent and live. Ezekiel 18:23 – "Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?"

2 Peter 3:9 – "The Lord is... not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."Earthly judges, once they sentence someone, offer no guarantee of pardon - only the possibility of appeal. Many sentences are final, unless overturned by a higher court. In contrast, God not only hears appeals - He actively seeks to pardon!

Through Jesus Christ, the legal grounds for a FULL pardon are available to every condemned soul. Isaiah 43:25 – "I, even I, am he that blots out thy transgressions..." Colossians 2:14 – "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us..."

Intercessors are spiritual advocates. They petition the Court of Heaven to delay judgment, extend mercy, and apply the blood of Jesus. Their prayers give God the legal permission to intervene in the lives of the lost. Just as Abraham interceded for Sodom and Moses pleaded for Israel, God still seeks men and women to stand in the gap. Ezekiel 22:30 – "And I sought for a man among them, that should... stand in the gap before me... but I found none."

Key Scriptures for Intercessors: John 3:18 - Ezekiel 18:23 - 2 Peter 3:9 - Colossians 2:14 - Isaiah 43:25 - Ezekiel 22:30 - Romans 6:23 - 1 Timothy 2:5–6

Summary: Intercessors are not just praying - they are lawfully pleading, like a human lawyer in a natural courtroom. The unsaved are on God's death row, condemned already, but God wants to issue full pardons through Jesus Christ.

Your petitions bring legal grounds for Heaven to act. You are standing in the eternal courtrooms of God, presenting the blood as evidence, and giving Heaven permission to rescue souls from judgment.
